Used to have Sky HD boxes and they were excellent and easy to use. Tried to get a better deal, and they refused unless I took the Sky Q which is absolute rubbish, and very glitchy. They changed the connections and when I said wasn't happy they refused to change back, when I spoke to a manager, they agreed, however my package would double in price. Just found out if I decide to leave Sky they take the Q boxes back, which means I'll have to get an aerial company in so I can watch TV. (Removed)

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou could buy a freesat 4k box instead, the dish will work with that.
And nigea's guide to those upgrading from HD has some good pointers about the differences. Some things are better, some worse imho.
By glitchy, I assume you mean the wifi internet connection?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreSky won't have forced you to take Sky Q. You obviously agreed a deal. Sky won't revert your subscription back to Sky+.
Sky Q boxes have always been loaned to customers so of course Sky will want them back if you cancel.

Good rant though, I liked it.

It's the Q LNB on the satellite dish which prevents Freesat (other than the current Freesat 4K branded boxes) and Sky+ / Sky+ HD hardware from receiving a signal. Nothing to do with 'plugs' or an 'aerial'.

'Lying' and 'misselling' are always attention grabbing, even when their use is misplaced.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Kenny08 Sky+ is a legacy, increasingly unsupported platform which Sky no longer market, which is why you can't go back to it.

I had a similar experince in December 2024
Customer for 25 years
Looked at changing to Sky Q but explained i wanted service in an outbuilding which has internet
They mis solf and misinformed me when i asked if you need to be in hotspot reach of main box
Once i discovered this the next day from another sales agent at Sky i cancelled and asked to go back to previous contract package includes multi room
They wont reinstate my service! so no sky in the garden shed!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Alexvvvv unfortunately, even though they've agreed your misselling claim, they won't reinstate Sky+, for the reasons already given.

The boxes keep disconnecting from the main, and are not good

Moderator removed as unfounded allegations, obviously truth hurts

Because they said I could go back, and meant I could still have access to free view etc, and cancel contract, but when you go to Sky Q you don't own the boxes so you have to hand them back or they switch off and you can't receive anything
