Using old Sky Q box and Viewing Card

I have an old Sky Q box and viewing card. Can I use it to subscribe without needing a new installation?

@Casus

Did you not return the Sky Q box after you cancelled as it is the property of Sky. The chances are the viewing card has been cancelled so at the very least you would need a new one.

How old is the Q box? They belong to Sky and are technically stolen property if not returned at the end of a subscription. If it was previously owned by someone else then it may have been deactivated anyway. You are better off getting a new installation and new box direct from Sky.

No. For various reasons, didn't return any of it. They have written off the old debt and bill and I'm set to resubscribe but seems daft to request a whole new box, card and install considering it is litterally all ready to go. Sky live chat have been no help at all.

You're probably best trying to speak to a human being then. If your current equipment was part of an over-due or unpaid subscription situation then it may all have been deactivated and written off. Sky's systems aren't great at dealing with non-standard installations.

If your dish and cabling is still in good order then they may be able to send you a new box and viewing card to install yourself. You can then dispose of the old box if they don't want it back.
