Using a Projector Outside

Long term Sky customer but not the most technical minded!

I have my main Sky box in the front room, mini boxes in the back room & two bedrooms.

But I want to use an outdoor projector in the rear garden area at the back of the house.

Is this possible & with how many complications or Sky related issues?

@frank007  The 1st thing to point out is Sky equipment is not designed for outdoor use so should never be used outdoors, which will limit you so using HDMI cable from one of e the Sky Q boxes to the projector.

Fair point, though it was nevewr my intention to take any Sky equipment outdoors.

I heard that sound could be an issue, though a bluetooth speaker could address this?

Additionally that HDMI cable's 'effectiveness' is reduced by their length?

-This is a concern as the distance from my main Sky box in the from room to the site outdoors would be 18m plus!

Realistically the maximum for UHD over passive HDMI is around three metres (perhaps up to five metres on a good day) and note that expensive passive cables don't actually make any significant difference.  HD can potentially go much further.

As indicated above, active HDMI (fibre-optic) is the way to get UHD over distance.

Also be aware that cheaper projectors really can't be bright enough for outdoor evening use: their performance indoors isn't much of an indication.

Audio sync may be an issue that you'll just have to experiment with.
