Using Sky Q for free satellite TV

Just been trying to ask an advisor about Sky free satellite TV. He said they do offer it but I need to speak to the cancellation team. I want to know how it works. Does anyone have this ?.

@elderwandninja what you are looking for is Sky Essentials which for around £15 per month you get access to all the free channels and the record option on the Sky Q box to record the free channels

I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

To keep the Q box you need a subscription of some sort.

Either the base Sky package of Signature or Essentials as mentioned above.

If you are asking for an option without paying any monthly subscription then Sky do not offer this.  You can however purchase your own Freesat 4K box which is compatible with the dish/LNB.  (For around £200 one off)

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Note that while this facilitates the reception of 'free-to-air' television channels, it very definitely has a cost.

Definitely buying a Freesat 4k recordable. Should be on offer in November Black Friday sale.

When you set it up, don't be surprised if it initially can't find the satellite signal. Leave it on overnight & it should update & be working.
