Upgrading my old school TV service

Hi Gang

my mother-in-law (M-I-L for REF - who is 80+ years old) has an old Sky Box in her room,  I mean pre-Sky+! So it's time has run out and I am looking to upgrade in general, I want to get Sky Q in the living room and get the Sky+ box moved to my M-I-Ls room, is this feasible? I was looking to speak to a Sky Specialist but there's just no info to speak to a human being. Let me know your thoughts; speak to you all soon.

No, Sky doesn't permit subscription to Sky Q at the same address as Sky+ (or earlier)

The typical setup is the main Q box in the living room (with dish feed cable and UHD output) and then a Q Mini box (no dish cable, HD output) on WiFi in the other room.  This requires the 'Multiscreen' add-on to the Sky subscription.

hi @Adewale

What channels / features does your M-I-L use - do these include channels only available via subscription  & does she use any record / playback functionality ?

She's on the entertainment package but no Sky+ or anything like that but she can learn, I'm sure 🙂

Many thanks @Adewale

As she does watch subscription channels then probably the only real option is as detailed by @TimmyBGood  (unless you switch to Streaming options)

BTW The mini can use an ethernet connection to the main box rather than wifi if needed.

You may also wish to read some notes I have put together for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q (particularly note the shared recordings & no User profiles)

SKY + to SKY Q
