Unable to book an engineer

My sky dish has no lock to the satellite and I have had no TV for 5 days. I contacted Sky support 4 days ago to report issue. However, I was told they were unable to arrange an engineer visit due to "back office" problems with my account? I have escalated this as a complaint but have not received any resolution with this issue yet.

Support won't/can't tell me what the issue is? Has anyone else had this problem?

Exact same issue here Ben.. im furious. Told no engineer available to call to me until 25th March!! are they joking like. Missing recordings of all my favourite shows all week while im at work and no tv channels when i get home! what a joke. Do they really think i will wait a month for TV again???.. 17 years i am with them and supposed to be VIP.. currently on hold waiting to cancel !"

@Avril1

Your long wait for an engineer appears unrelated to the issue the OP has. A number of satellite engineers were made redundant last year as Comcast move away from satellite services. The appointment given will be the first availability in your area. It may be quicker to employ a local satellite company but that would be at your own expense.

edit: If you cancel there will be a 31 day notice period by which time the engineer will have been.

Re: Unable to book an engineer

So - they've sacked most of the engineers. Not a good look for the future. I've been with Sky for 17 years and 5 days without TV is not good enough. If this is the way it's going to be, I'll be taking my £132 pm elsewhere in short order.

There is no long term future in satellite broadcasting in the UK. Clearly they cut costs sooner than they should have though. Esepcially with the increasing frequency and severity of storms.

Having said that, the "back office issue" is ridiculous. I would just pay a local specialist albeit I don't like wasting money. But I like having no TV even less.

Satellite television is not the future.

Why not bite the bullet and get an independent in to sort your dish alignment?

Re: Unable to book an engineer

I interpreted your message incorrectly, please accept my sincere apologies. However, I don't see why I should pay for an engineer to fix Sky issues.
Personally, I would have switched over to Sky stream. But my area is only part fiber and therefore, not fast enough for reliable HD streaming.

I get your point, but you own the dish (unlike the boxes), so it is sort of your "issue"
