UHD playback is choppy.

Everytime I watch UHD films on Demand the video is choppy. I have tried to reset sky q but its still there. I've also tried downloading the films fully before playing but it is still choppy.

Check the video processing settings on your TV.

 

Are you using supplied HDMI lead?

Yes I'm using the supplied sky HDMI cable. TV setting is UHD 2160p amd I have done a rest where you go in settings and type in 001. but still the same. I was wondering if this is a hardware issue. When watching live TV its ok.

Could be - try other HDMI sockets if you can.

What exactly do you mean by "choppy"? Not noticed this myself.

Choppy - as in when playing it stops and starts and sometimes the video goes on but the sound drops then comes back.. similar to buffering but this happens even if the film is fully downloaded.

Ok that sounds like a faulty box or HDMI cable to me. Never seen anything like it.

Best to contact Sky for an Engineer visit @mgays 

If the Q box is faulty it will be replaced free of charge.

They are loaned to you so they will replace it if it is faulty.  (You'll lose all recordings and settings)

Just an update, spoke to a sky tech and was asked to update the sofware despite it being up to date. Basically re-insatll the update. And so far all is good, will be observing it over the weekend and the sky tech will rang and check if its fix.

Sky q box gets warm and and have to install a small fan. If this sofware re-install does not work then they'll send an engineer to check the box.
