when renewing my contract I never received a sky q box to replace one of my old ones

You'll have to explain. In case you’re unaware, this is a customer helps customer based forum and you aren’t addressing Sky Customer Services here. You wouldn't automatically get a new Sky Q box or Sky Q mini box on renewal unless you'd reported a fault with it.
