Two sky q boxes (separate accounts ) ‘same internet’ a problem?

Hi All,

we are moving house and moving in with the in-laws

we currently have sky q and talktalk fibre

the father in law has sky q with bt fibre

the new house has an annex where they will live, it is a completely separate dwelling connected to our house and has one postcode etc

sky have said that obviously won't effect anything the sky q side of things, accounts will still be separate

my question is, to save money we let the in-laws piggy back on our talk talk fibre and cancle their bt account to save money

can you run two separate sky q boxes off the SAME internet connection?

i can't see any reason why you can't?

cheers

In short, no.

Unless you are familiar with creating VLAN's on your local network then it just won't work.

hi @wref

If you have a single Postcode for the address then, AFAIK, SKY have always said they would not allow 2 accounts at the same postal address & you need to separate accounts for 2 SKY Q main boxes.

Anyway  SKY Q is not designed to have another main box on the same internet connection & I believe you are likely to have problems.- I do not know the specifics but others here may be able to advise in more detail

Cheers for reply

sorry I wasn't clear why I meant was there are two separate postcodes, the in-laws house is technically separate as is number 7a , we're number 7

i understand about the internet, I thought it wouldn't be straight forward lol

If it's a separate address then they should be able to supply it - subject to being able to put up 2 dishes.
