Trying to cancel Sky Q

I rung Sky on the 22nd September to cancel my Sky Q and all packages (leaving Sky).  Agent tried to cut bill costs etc but I wasn't swayed and so after a 20 min call and all the scripts on returning equipment, losing recordings etc the Agent said there was tech issue so they would need to raise a Customer Resolution form and it would be cancelled and I'd get an email confirming.   Nothing received, so called Sky again on 1st October for another 20 minute call, was rudely told to be patient and that was that.  We're now on the 14th October and still no cancellation and have spoken to an Agent at Sky, went through the whole process again of cancellations terms and conditions and that cancellation will be from 22nd Sept so cancelled by 23rd Oct but again this Agent hit a technical glitch.  I've cancelled the direct debit as I refuse to pay for a service that I have instructed to be cancelled (have no problem in paying pro-rata upto 23rd Oct). I guess my question is has this happened to anyone else and how long did it take to sort?  I'm not too worried as the ball is in Sky's court now and they have all the call recordings and I have phone logs etc.  I'm not sure if there is anything else I should/could do to help resolve this - it's more frustation than anything.

Tempting as it might seem cancelling the payment method is definitely not recommended.

Doing that is going to cause you additional problems. Your services will be restricted, you won't be able to call Sky, you wont be able to cancel, late payment fees will be added and eventually Sky could involve a debt recovery company which may affect your credit rating.

Re: Trying to cancel Sky Q

I'm not worried about that and that's not what my post is about - I will remove that part from the post if it's distracting from the real problem in hand here.  I'm looking for advise/opinion on the cancellation itself.

But it's relevant as it will hinder the cancellation. You will be due to make another payment at some stage during the 31 day notice period so when that fails the advice I gave kicks in.
