Re: This programme is no longer available

I really don't understand why when check by for updates or updating the box there isn't a message saying you are on the latest software version or new software version available?
I too have this issue of the picture just going off and being replaced by blue screen but sound still available. It's definitely the Sky Q Box.

I don't know the answer, but these systems have always been designed to work with minimal/zero intervention from the user. Ie software updates auto-performed with the user never even needing to go onto that menu. Perhaps the thinking was that if they have got to the point where they're in that menu, they need to see something happen for reassurance, and a re-load of the same software might fix certain problems so maybe that's why it does it.

But yes, as a savvy user I'd prefer to be told "Actually, all you can do here is re-load the same version you have, are you sure?".

I now have version 360, but we still don't know if it will fix the problem as Sky haven't said.

I assume you've tried pressing the standby button on the front panel (current work-around which is better/easier than a reboot).

It would be better hidden behind the not so secret engineers menu at least. Are you updated to 360 via the superusers portal?

@Me134 I don't know, I just noticed I had it the other day and assume it's just the standard rollout happening.

edit: Also seen this post https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/This-programme-is-no-longer-available/m-p/5303318#M738233 which doesn't seem great.

I've got into the habit of pressing the front panel button, will have to try using the remote to bring out of standby to see if I have any issues.

That's presuming that that poster is indeed on Q360.

Yes, I just assumed it was the truth. Had no particular reason to doubt it.

Re: This programme is no longer available

Had this issue for weeks now. Had the engineer out today. He said the hard drive was done on the box. New box. All set up and working. I went back to work. Just got home and guess what 🤬 it's frozen and I have a black screen. Tried talking to them on the app. They blame my tv. Tried ringing and couldn't get beyond the bot. Now have another engineer booked. I'm wasting my time aren't I.

A new box was never going to solve it and neither will another engineer visit.

Re: This programme is no longer available

The Q36 software update which may or may not solve this issue (I never had it so can't confirm either way) is now available as a manual update.

Re: This programme is no longer available

Yeah doesn't look like it made a difference. Had the usual issue about an hour after updating to Q360. Bought a smart plug to make it easier to restart. Really feel like Sky should be giving these away for free now to compensate.

Re: This programme is no longer available

Having had this problem since 21st April, I've narrowed it down. The Q360 release made no difference. The issue happens if the Sony (google) TV directly connected to the Sky Q box is not playing something from the Sky Q box for about 90 mins i.e. you watch something on an App (You Tube) on your TV rather than from the Sky Q box. OR, you watch something on your mini box for about 90 mins then go to your main TV and try and try to watch on there. That gap of the main TV and Sky Q box not talking for that period of time causes the issue.

I don't know if that's the case or not as I've only had the 'waking up to a black screen' issue 4 or 5 times on my Samsung TV, rather than the constant one that many on this thread have had, all seemingly using Sony TVs(?), but have you checked the TV for any update as it may be that it is to an update from Sony themselves that resolves it?

Re: This programme is no longer available

Not for us. Sony Bravia but simply  the box freezes when the tv has been put into standby

Not for us what exactly? Has the Sky Q360 update not helped or just not updated? Or are you saying there's no Sony TV update?

Edit: BTW, have you tried disabling both the Sky Q box eco mode to 'None' and any energy saving mode on the Sony?

Re: This programme is no longer available

This may be a massive coincidence but despite having 3 engineers visit, 2 brand new skyq boxes, nothing changed. Same old story, the box needed rebooting every time it was switched off for more than a few hours. Low and behold ,Virgin ( broadband provider) insisted I have a new router so they sent one through. Can't quite believe it but since I swapped over the router I have had no issues now for 2 weeks and everything is working perfectly. As I said, could be a coincidence but thank god for that
