That version has been out since April and is the cause of this problem. Each time you manually check for an update the Sky box will seem to find one, but all it does is download and re-install the current software, so it's not really worth doing.

So last night I turned off the Sky box with the Sky remote (power button short press) and then turned the TV off with the Sky remote (power button long press).
This morning I turned everything on with the remote (Home button) and it all worked.
This was one of the scenarios that was failing a couple of weeks ago.
Tonight I'll turn the TV off but leave the Sky box on overnight (the other scenario that was failing), and see what happens.

Interesting.
Turned off the TV/soundbar last night via the Sky remote (long press on power button) before I went to bed, leaving the Sky Q box on (green light on front).
I don't have any Eco mode or smart standby mode active.
Green light was still on this morning, so I hit the Home button on the Sky remote and.... "This programms is no longer available".
That's the first time I've had it in well over a week, and also the first time in that period that I left the Sky box on overnight.
Tonight, I will leave the box on overnight again but tomorrow morning I will use the TV remote to turn on the TV.
Slowly ruling in and out all combinations, one-by-one...

Left the Sky box on overnight and just turned the TV on with the TV remote this morning and... nothing from the Sky box, just a black screen, so it had clearly crashed overnight.
So, for me at least, if the box is not turned to standby overnight it crashes one way or the other.
The only question I have left is whether it matters how I turn to standby at night. I'll use the Sky remote tonight and see what happens.

Tried all different combinations different remotes turn off with one on with another no luck still locking up or that same message over and over again with nothing from sky. If one more person says turn off wait and turn back on I think I will scream. Why can't sky just admit that this is a scam for us to change from a box to either internet or sky glass and stop this lousy service.

Of course, we are all on the same version which has this bug. Trying different things won't magically re-write the software and fix the bug.

It's a bug, not some ill-thought out plan to break their own service.

Turned the box off with the Sky remote last night, turned it back on with the Sky remote this morning (followed by the tv with the Sky remote) and everything is working ok.
So it seems that I've managed to get my box into a state where - touch wood - just making sure it's turned off at night avoids this issue for me. If I leave the box on overnight, it will have crashed one way or the other by the next morning.
(I haven't tried recording anything overnight, but the World Cup is on at stupid o'clock from next week, so...)

We have managed to get this to work albeit if there is a recording happening at the same time the box freezes but it continues recording! Was left with a frozen box yesterday and a 20hr episode of Love Island 🤣

I give up!!!! Turning sky and off is kind of fine now. But everything I try to watch that is recorded I get 'this programme is no longer available' grrrrr

I have been having this issue since 21st Apr. 7 engineers, 4 new Sky Q boxes, 2 new mini boxes, rewiring from dish to main box - all this and still it doesn't work. Then you have to go on that ridiculous phone system to try and find someone to talk to.
Is Sky actually going to try and figure out what's happening? You're very happy to take my money, perhaps you should put the same effort fixing issues!

Eh? Of course it still doesn't work! What a misguided and reckless waste of time and money. Replacing hardware and then running the same software is hardly going to fix the bug in the software 🙄

Like many, just had a new box and continuing to find freezing, black screen when sound is playing and programme no longer available message. Not usually all together but has happened. Sky experts advised change of box and sent a new one but problems still persist. Have reboot box by turning power off then on to get around it. Shouldn't have to do this!
