Telephone line

I have a brand new TV, do I plug the LAN telephone line directly into the TV set or my Sky Q box?

Neither a smart television or a Q box uses a telephone line, because neither device contains a modem.  The last Sky devices to be built with dial-up connections were obsolete Sky+ HD boxes.

Both will have ethernet ports though, so can use a LAN (Local Area Network) data connection over ethernet cable to a router if you choose not to put them on WiFi.

The question doesn't make sense.

What's a 'LAN telephone line'?

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own

Can you post a photo of this phone port? Sounds like it might be either fibre or one of those adsl filter dual socket things.

The LAN is the small white telephone Pin socket

Hi @RJCOD   That still does not make any sense. LAN = Local Area Network, nothing to do with telephones. Best to post an image.

A 'small white telephone Pin socket' is not a Local Area Network: 'LAN' refers to ethernet (WLAN is WiFi)

These days the only thing a telephone socket connects to is a router (for ADSL, G.fast and FTTC broadband) or a voice handset.
