Swapping SKy Q box and mini Sky Q

My main sky Q box is in my living room, but the tv is not UHD. I have the Sky Q mini box in my room with a brand new UHD tv. The dish connects to the front room, but there are still two cables from my Sky + days in my room. Can I swap the boxes around Sky Q moving main box as the tv doesn’t have uhd. I already have sky q mini in my room, but with a full UHD tv. So I'd like to move the boxes around if this is possible? Hope that makes sense

If the cables in your other room are connected to the same dish as your main Q box is then it's certainly possible. You would need to make sure that the LNB on the dish has multiple wideband outputs, otherwise you'd need to swap the cables round on the LNB too.

That's going to entirely depend on what the cables in your room are actually connected to. If it is to the same LNB on the dish that the main Q box is right now (or can be), then yes, you can do that.

Hi @Gary+Locks+Heath

You need to check at the Satellite dish how many cables are connected.

A standard Q wide band LNB only has two outlets and the extra cables from your Sky + days may have been cut.

If the cables and fittings are present and in a suitable condition then you swap over the cables at the dish.

If the LNB has more then two cables fitted then you might have a Hybrid LNB. If so  you may have to swap the two Pairs of cables around as the latest hybrid LNB only has two outputs suitable for Q.   Earlier version were universal with 6 outputs suitable for Sky+ or Sky Q
