Sound dropout when moving from Ultra HD to HD.
Whenever I watch a Sports channel with Ultra HD sound and then move to an HD channel the sound drops completely. If I select an Ultra HD channel from turn on the sound if fine until I then select an HD channel. I have to turn off Sky Box and TV, wait a couple of minutes and turn on again to get the HD Channel sound. I have changed all HD Cables but with no effect.
Very frustrating!

hi @Vinters123
What are you listening to the audio on - Is it the TV or a soundbar or an AV amp ?
What setting do you have set in:
Home - Settings - Setup - Audio Visual
Digital audio output HDMI

Many thanks @Vinters123
In which case I am assuming your Sound bar can handle Dolby Atmos.
I have to admit I am a bit puzzled as to why you should loose sound when you do.
Although it might not be what you want - can you try setting it to ordinary Dolby Digital and see if you get the same problem when switching back to HD.

OK will try. Soundbar is Atmos compatible.

Yes, turning off Dolby Digital Plus works but as expected, no Atmos sound.

Perhaps I should upgrade cables to 8k standard?

Clearly not ideal but is the difference between the 5.1 sound & Atmos very noticeble ?
Out of interest what happens if you use one of your TV apps such as Netflix with Atmos and then go back to SKY on HD channel or maybe Freeview HD channel if your TV has a freeview aerial?
Is the SKY Q box plugged directly into the sound bar or is it plugged into the TV and using the ARC connection to the sound bar ?

No I don't think that would make a difference the audio uses far less bandwidth than the UHD TV signal needs - Atmos from SKY Q (& probably all TV apps) is <1mbs

Re: Sound dropout when moving from Ultra HD to HD.
The HDMI eARC on Soundbar is connected to eARC on TV.
Other HDMI on Soundbar is connected to Sky Box.

Try hdmi from sky to TV
Sounds like (no pun intended) the soundbar isn't handling to metadata switch from Atmos to DD very well. Maybe if it's brokered through the TV it will behave differently.

hi @Vinters123
As @Chodley suggests it may be worth trying connecting SKY Q to the TV and rely on the eARC connection for sound - not sure it will make a difference but worth a try

Re: Sound dropout when moving from Ultra HD to HD.
Thanks Guys, I have altered the HDMI cables to connect from Sky Box direct to TV and separate from Soundbar to TV and all seems fine so far so thanks for your assistance,
