Have tried help topics regards switching off box and associated devices, and rebooted all. But Sky box not responding, suspect box is outdated and will not support software updates. Would Sky normally replace outdated equipment ?

If it is a Q box then it's just loaned to you so with any failure they'll replace it. (But not necessarily to a 'better' box, e.g. HDR)
