Streaming BBC iPlayer in 4K

Why is Sky Q 2 TB UHD box unable to stream BBC iPlayer in 4K, I have spoken to customer support and finally after 3 calls got a very nice lady who knew what the issue was. Apparently Sky Q box does not meet the pixel requirement that iPlayer demands.
There are posts saying a 3rd generation box is needed but I was told this is incorrect.

A suggestion has been raised with the tech team to fix issues, but I feel it's not the best service when you pay for 4K Sky services and it is not compatible with one of the Main UK broadcasters output.

wonder id Sky stream is but from what I"ve read I'm not ready to get rid of Sky Q yet.

Yes for some reason you can only get UHD on iPlayer on a V3 box

You're not paying Sky for iplayer in 4k, it's a part of the license fee. And precious little content too.

I have a V3 box but actually always use my TV's iplayer app.

@mac+g  There won't be a 4th generation of Sky Q as satellite broadcasting in the UK is coming to an end by the end of the decade, Sky stream is the latest box from Sky and supports BBC iPlayer content in 4K

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

hi @mac+g

Unfortunately, the only commitment SKY has is to provide you with an HDR box - both V2 & V3 boxes are

(BTW Most of SKY's systems don't differentiate between the V2 & V3 2TB boxes)

If you really want to have a V3 box you could consider asking for a 1TB box as there is no V2 1TB box

For IPlayer, & apps in general, you are better off using the TV's inbuilt player & apps  anyway

Hi @mac+g   32B2xx 2TB boxes are extremely rare, if not gone completely. You could move to a 32B2xx 1 TB box if it bothers you.
