Slow HD download on demand. SD is ok. WiFi connection is ok

Hd on demand downloads at 2% a minute. SD takes 10 seconds to download same movie. (30 minute episode). WiFi is fine to all other devices.  This started a couple of months ago. This is NOT an issue with the WiFi speed. Everything has been rebooted multiple times. Reading other similar questions it looks like sky throttle down HD downloads if you don't have their broadband?. We have and need to keep BT.  How do I get the box to allow HD downloads . I repeat it is not the broadband into the router or the WiFi in the house. The same WiFi can download Netflix HD to my tablet ok. The router is in the same room with line of sight and about 5 metres away.

If your Sky box is downloading HD content slowly, it might be due to Sky's network management policies or settings on your device. Since you’ve ruled out WiFi and broadband issues, try these steps: Check Your Sky Box Settings: Ensure there are no settings limiting HD downloads. Sometimes devices have settings for data usage or download quality. Update Software: Make sure your Sky box software is up to date. Outdated software can sometimes cause performance issues. Contact Sky Support: Explain the issue and mention that other devices on the same network aren’t affected. They may provide specific settings or adjustments for HD downloads. Check for Throttling Information: Confirm with Sky if they throttle HD downloads for non-Sky broadband users. If so, this might be why your downloads are slow. If none of these steps resolve the issue, contacting Sky directly is your best bet for a resolution.

Hi @Daveq1 Try rebooting your router by removing the power cable for 30 sec then reconnect to reboot, then reboot your main SKYQ box by turning the power off at the socket for 30 sec then turn back on?

Re: Slow HD download on demand. SD is ok. WiFi connection is ok

Hi, rebooted hub and Q box. Made no difference. Put a WiFi analyser on the iPad. 68Mb down, speed test on WiFi connected lap top is similar.  Running iPad app test right next to q box is the same.

netflix download on Q box is 4Mb! Netflix download on smart tv (6 inches from qbox) is 34 Mb.

I am going to no w try the hidden reset, but I don't think it is going to make any difference

thoughts?
