Probably not helped when Sky has always been remarkably secretive about the workings of the Q mesh: the dropping of the built-in Powerline support was never actually acknowledged, for example....

OK, so I can confirm that Sky Q boxes do in fact have gigabit lan cards

Depends on the box model, I believe.

Yes, but my confusion is that none of the models will deliver over 90 Mbps when connected over Ethernet and acting as a WiFi hotspot.

I am a Sky employee working in the field as a broadband / WiFi tech and this issue with the Q Lan spec has thrown me a curve ball.

When it's acting as a mesh node there could be deliberate halving of bandwidth on wifi to allow bidirectional traffic

Re: Slow Ethernet speed on Sky Q Box

How do you tell which version you have?  I've been struggling with poor connection recently - have always used wired with wifi disabled on all Sky boxes.  Have just bought new wifi routers and they are telling me connection to Sky Q mini box is only 100mbps.  I'm wondering if I will actually do better switching on wifi as there is an AP right next to Sky Q mini and AP is hard wired back to router which in turn is hard wired to main Sky box (which I assume must be 1gbps)?  Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi @NicholasS   Any particular reason why you want anything faster than 25-35mbps? You cannot download anything to a Mini box and 25-35mbps is sufficient for any type of streaming.

Much less for a Mini, which has no use for UHD data rates.
