SkyQ RECORDING TO A DVD RECORDER-WAYS IT COULD BE DONE

Hello, I know there is signal blocking on SkyQ. If trying to Record SkyQ onto a DVD Recorder,1 is it true with an HDMI Splitter that works on Sky mini. I am not on SkyQ yet Still on Sky+Hd as a prefer it.  I would if eventually on SkyQ want to know if an Hdmi splitter would work, so i could work, how would i hook it up. I have one that i think has 2 ports on it the Hdmi splitter. 2 Also is it true a Video Capture Device might work, where would i hook that up or connect it . 3 Also are there other ways Someone could Record to a Dvd Recorder, on SkyQ to get around the signal Blocking.

@Toymaker215 afraid this is something that shouldn't be discussed on a Sky run forum as you are asking for ways to circumvent something Sky has in place to stop recording onto other media

I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

hi @Toymaker215

I have no idea whether any HDMI splitters allow you to bypass the HDCP copy protection - in theory they shouldn't otherwise they are not HDCP compliant.

Mini boxes do have a composite 3.5mm output via a suitable cable but I can advise that output also has Macrovision type protection on many channels

SKY forums are not the best vehicle for discussing bypassing such copy protection - you might get other responses on independent forums.

I do have Freeview HDD/BD/DVD recorders which I use from freeview but my latest one no longer has external inputs so I am guessing your DVD recorder is several years old.

I do slightly miss the ability to archive some material from SKY channels but having had SKY Q for 7+ years I have got used to the fact I can't . I am sorry to say you may have to get used to this also
