Sky q not able to change channels

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

So up until this week, my sky q has worked fine. I got it in August 2019

On Tuesday, when I turned it on.  I could not access downloads that evening. I then tried to pause live TV, and it came up with 'hard disk error'. I restarted the box and hoped it would fix it.

Unfortunately not, I followed advice on sky page to reset the hard disk, thus losing all the recordings I knew I'd never watched (and others I intend to watch)

2 days later, I've had various problems today. It took a fourth restart before able to watch anything on live.

All different problems:

  • First, no picture or sound on any channels. Recordings could not play.
  • Second, I tried playing a recording from last night, the playing just kept fast forwarding until the end, and then stuck on the last image. No button could get away from the image and it was stuck on it.
  • Thirdly, the tv would not turn over from one station showing golf. If I pressed either 'home' or 'sky', just make the screen all black with the golf in the top left hand corner.

The worked fine when I turned on TV at 9:30pm, I could watch the vuelta highlights and use an app to watch a programme.

But now, after finished  watching an episode on paramount plus, The third issue is reoccurring again. I tried to watch a recording and it wouldn't play.

Neither will the station change, nor can I access 'home screen' by pressing home or sky as this just shows the black screen with the small box in top left hand corner.

Voice controls not working either

Standby does not work either

Any reccomendations?

I feel like as this is just an issue again over the last 3 days,  I need to talk to sky.

Re: Sky q not able to change channels

Almost identical problems to myself. I'm unable to reset hard disk as box in not responding. On channel select, maybe one chanel in 30 has the live preview. One the channels having live preview can be watched. No recordings are playable.  Live pause locks out the channel. At this moment Q is not fit for purpose.
