I currently have sky q and 3 mini boxes set up in the house and at the end of a long garden. I have connected the sky router to the main box and then the main box to the garden mini box by ethernet cable. This setup enables me to get sky and the internet in the garden office / summerhouse. Unfortunately i cant get fast fibre where i am but can now get virgin cable broadband. I would like to get virgin broadband but still retain the current sky set up to use the mesh network. Is this possible with out using the sky router? Do the mini boxes essentially just amplify the sky router network or do they put out their own network?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreForm what I hear the minis use the internet settings from the Q box so should work on any broadband connection. You may have to enter the VM SSID & Passphrase manually into the Sky Q box as supposedly the Wi-Fi protected setup button only works with Sky BB - yet I'm sure it worked when I used it.
