Sky q and composite cabelling

Hi,

Being forced into an upgrade to sky q. The problem I have is that my current aky box feeds to the house through a russound cav 6 system with the sound and picture from the sky box is sent to the system by an rca cable. I keep getting told that the sky q box is not compatible with this system. Has anyone any experience of this or know if yhis has a work around to make it work please. Thanks in advance.

Why forced?

The main Q box has HDMI output with HDCP - no analogue output.  It may be possible to get a converter.

As @PandJ2020 says it might be possible but certainly not straight forward

You may, also, wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

SKY +/HD to SKY Q

Note ; THe lack of Software updates on SKY HD does not mean they will stop working  - although SKY have tightened  rules meaning only SKY Cards paired with the boxes last October can be re-paired with the same boxes (i.e. no swapping of boxes)

You can feed composite from a mini with the right cable. Maybe you can make that work.

also - no one is being forced but the comms do make it sound like that.

With the Nokia phone cable thingy - but I suspect the OP is trying to avoid paying for a multiscreen sub.

At the cost of having to use SD? Too much to bear 😁

Re: Sky q and composite cabelling

Dish got blown off and will not be repaired unless the sky q system gets installed as part of the repair.

You could get a local independent Satellite Installer to do this

Indeed - may be a better option given your setup...

Sky, quite rightly, no longer provide any support for Sky HD/Sky+

Re: Sky q and composite cabelling

Yes but the box is fine its purely the dish is the issue no sky repair without a box change. Repair due tomorrow so hopefully there will be some workaround with it.

The workaround is to get someone other than Sky to fix the dish.

If that is SKY then this will be with SKY Q, unfortunately which will not be ideal for your set up

I suspect it is too late to pause the switch

@maniac2002 as you have found Sky won't send an engineer out for any problems with a Sky + HD problem whether it be box or dish.

If you wish to keep your Sky + HD system you would be best to call Sky now(although you might be too late ) to cancel the change to Sky

Q then get an independant out to sort your dish.

Once you have changed to Sky Q you cannot go back to Sky+HD

Maybe this could help

https://www.lindy.co.uk/audio-video-c2/converters-scalers-c105/hdmi-to-composite-stereo-audio-conver...

might need a way to get the remote signal back to the Sky box though.
