Sky mini box stuck in stand by

My main sky Q box IS working but not recognised by the mysky app so I can't use the my sky app to fix anything.  My mini box when turned on at the plug goes to red standby light. The remote for the mini box works, the reset button makes no difference - it remains on a red light. The internet is fine. My main sky box tells me the mini box is ready to use. What's wrong with  the mini box and how do I fix it?
