@STE56

Go to: Sky Store > Featured > Top Picks > Your Sky Store Gift On Us

If it doesn't yet show try again later or tomorrow.

Re: Sky gift on us

I agree with the previous posters on here that the offer is a bit disingenuous. I subscribe to Sky Movies and all of the films in the "Gift" section are all freely available to me - so its not much of a gift!! Ive read that its possible to call Sky and then they "might" give you a credit but I really cant be bothered.

It would have been a very good offer to make anything available in the Sky store or simply give everyone affected a £20 credit off their bill.

Sorry Sky but you havent handled this well at all. In fact you would have been better doing nothing!!

@MarkJ22

For the amount of time it was down, roughly 12 hours for the majority of us, the pro rata amount off their normal Sky Q portion of the bill would amount to a couple of pound at best. By all means call Sky and ask the question but I've not heard of any credit being applied to accounts since the Sky Store offer was implemented.

I saw a post elsewhere on another site where Sky had agreed to apply a credit to the persons account and they got £2.48.

It's a buy and keep item so it will be available after you leave Sky (or cancel Cinema).

Problem is they don't know who was affected - I wasn't.  (But still got the movie offer)

And as highlighted £20 is unrealistic.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

If £20 represents 12 hours of your Sky television subscription then you might want to consider renegotiating your contract....

Sums was never my strong point at school, or since but… If undiscounted Sky Q Signature is £36.50 not including HD, divided by 31 days in May, divided by 2 for 12 hours outage

36.50 divided by 31 = £1.17 divided by 2 = 58.8p

Re: Sky gift on us

It's amazing how people can read things and then make assumptions about what that means.

Those of you above are trying to equate a level of compensation for the outrage to the actual amount of time lost. I agree it wouldn't be very much.

However, it's surely not just about the amount of downtime if the service but also the inconvenience to customers. Service delivery and service recovery are key parts of total customer service and mist businesses go out of their way to keep their customers happy or at least think "yes they did a good thing"

On this occasion many people were inconvenienced by the outtage with live events they could not watch. And so Sky has made an offer of the Free film download to compensate.

As I said previously, for me it has no value and I never once said the compensation SHOULD be £20 or that I was equating it to the actual cost of the loss if service delivery. I just used a figure that's close to the amount of renting a new issue film on sky store - which I think is around £19!!

The amount found be 2, 5, 10, 13.20, it doesn't matter what but any amount would be better than the so called "gift"

So I do think Sky has handled this poorly

Re: Sky gift on us

Thank you, I didn't read the small print, as there was a lot more in the email about rebooting if you still had problems etc. I do feel it's been handled poorly by Sky. I wasn't expecting anything, but to give a 'gift' of a movie I already have in Sky Cinema, is really not much of a gift.

I actually thought; that's a nice thing to do Sky, then found a load of old films and ones I can watch anyway. Very disappointed.

And this.....

@CiaranR wrote:

A bit of a con job from Sky if you have a movie subscription. I could download all the "Free Gift Movies" as part of my package so gift was of no benifit to me.

I called them and said you are giving me something that I already have access to and was told not everyone has a movies subscription, so I said because I pay more I get nothing for a service failure. That makes perfect sense !! Agent checked with a manager and they said they will issue me with a credit of 7.99 but not seeing it on my account yet.

Worth calling them out on this kind of rubbish

@MarkJ22

It's a gesture, not 'compensation' (which, subscription television not being a regulated essential service, there's no requirement to provide)

Given the number of users apparently affected, anything more would be a multi-million pound hit to the bottom line which would necessitate very senior sign-off and is correspondingly extremely unlikely.

Subscribers can choose to make choices accordingly, perhaps keeping in mind the complexity of delivering such a service for a couple of pounds a day.

@MarkJ22 bearing in mind on a £100 subscription per month the hourly pro rata rate works out at 13.5p per hour 100/31 days = £3.23 / 24 hours =13.5p

so £3.23 per day or 13.5p per hour
