Sky frequency

Hi

I havd BT broadband and my connection on my computer works well on 5ghz but when it connects to 2.4 ghz I get slow speeds, if I turn off 2.4 I have been told that my sky box will not work as this is the frequency it uses, can I connect my sky to 5ghz instead without any issues

Many thanks

You can potentially turn off the 2.4Gz on the computers own wireless configuration with no effect on the Q hardware.

No - as you note Q will only connect to 2.4GHz for a non-Sky ISP.

However, why don't you configure your router with split SSID's?  i.e. one for 2.4 and the other for 5.  (Then connect your computer to the 5GHz one and the Q box to the 2.4GHz one)

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Unfortunately I don't think you can do this on the latest BT Hubs

Typically where a router permits it you would rename one of the two bands to broadcast a different SSID (network name)

As noted, the BT Smart Hub 2 does not permit this.
