Sky disconnecting from my broadband almost every day

I have had this problem for a few months where Sky Q disconnects from my router every few days.   I reconnect via WPS but it's a nuisance,   I spoke to EE and they said my router was fine but did send me a new one last week.   Exactly the same problem.   Sky Q disconnects every day.   In the past I've done resets etc and I have Sky on permanently now.   But the problem persists.   Recently it tried to connect to another EE WiFi (not password protected) rather than mine.   I am getting red up with this.  It's impossible to get hold of a human being at Sky and I have exhausted the EE route.   Any suggestions??

Hi @Sarah1948   As far as I know, you should only be using WPS with Sky broadband. You should connect using SSID & Password connecting the Main Sky Q box with EE.

I haven't found anything to say that I cannot use WPS with non-Sky broadband.   It works well and is obviously quicker.    I rather doubt using WPS has any bearing on the disconnection issue.

Hi @Sarah1948

try Googling the following

can you use WPS to connect Q box to 3rd party router

Re: Sky disconnecting from my broadband almost every day

I googled and yes I can use WPS with a 3rd party supplier.  I plan to try a power line and see if that makes any difference.   An Ethernet cable would be difficult due to the configuration of the room although the distance is small (across a carpet!).

Sky themselves specifically advise otherwise (AI search results may differ)

As you've discovered, WPS works to some extent, but not very well.

That's as may be but it has made no difference whether I use WPS or enter the password to connect to my router.   It still drops out nearly every day.

Hi @Sarah1948   It sounds like it is time to contact Sky or use Ethernet or Powerline adapters.

The network reset process specifically says to only use WPS with sky routers. I suspect this is because the Q Box shares the login details it knows about with minis and it doesn't get those if you use WPS.

The Q wifi connection to 3rd party routers is abysmal. Powerline is a good plan.
