Sky a recording software issues

Last couple of weeks we have had a series of issues with main Sky Q box (and therefore the two minis), lots of recordings saying software issue part recorded, some recordings pixelated, freezing, poor audio.  Live tv on all channels just showing black screen but then sometimes a message displays saying there is a technical fault with this channel.

I've looked on this forum, tried turning off and on at mains following the sequence recommended.  Sometimes it works but sometimes not.  Tried updating the software too twice.  Tried resetting hard drive, both the one that keeps your recordings and the more extreme reset which meant we lost all our recordings.  Yet still the problems recur.

Last night tv was working but a recording was poor quality on playback.  This morning no live tv at all until I unplugged and rest the box.

I have very similar posts on here but no definitive fixes.

Typically at this point the 'fix' is for Sky to swap-out the main Q box.

Exact same issue here - did you end up getting a new box? Mine is 5 years old maybe I need a new one 😞

We having been having exactly the same issues for several weeks, surely everyone's sky boxes not packing up at the same time. I will call them tomorrow.

Re: Sky a recording software issues

Our box was installed as a replacement for the last box that broke, this one hasn't been right since then, luckily most things we watch can be seen on catch up but been too long now, when I raised it previously I got told I have to go through god knows how many processes to figure it out, my software is the latest but any sky cinema films don't record just either pixelate, goes black screen or freezes, well put up with this long enough as a Diamond customer! End of contract coming up, and if no free box that works in every way, and I will test it! Then end of Sky as keep getting rubbish probably reco equipment.

Also I am NOT an engineer and I do not pay over £100 per month for me to have to try fixing a dodgy box from the start, I don't have time either and more importantly, shouldn't have to!

Well, while I agree the boxes should be more reliable, we live in a world of technology and £100 would get you about half an hour of a real engineer's time so we often have to do some diagnosis or maintenance of all kinds of stuff ourselves.

It does sound like a(nother) knackered hard drive to me and a box swap needed.
