Sky Sports UHD / HD Issue

Hello all.

A tale of two Sky Q boxes.

Both myself and a neighbour have a 2tb Q box each.

My Sky Sports 401 channel has suddenly become SkySptsMnEvtUHD (main event UHD) and I can no longer access it, says I need to upgrade my subscription to watch it. I know 401 is replicated on 858 for just HD but that isn't the point.

Onto the neighbour then, his 401 is just Sky Sports Main Event HD - no ultra - and of course no issue in him accessing it.

What can I do to get mine resolved? Will a new install (installers menu) fix it? I don't want to create another problem trying to sort this one.

Possibly a power down restart will cure it, otherwise it is likely to sort itself out after a day or 2.

Use the remote to place it into standby mode
Then remove the power to it (either switch off at mains or remove the power plug)
Wait at least 30s
Then re-apply the power & wait for it to fully restart - this may take a few minutes.

Please may I suggest that you set your most used channels as Favourites which not only allow you to see all your channels together when selecting the Favourites in the TV Guide , but you can select them with less key presses as well as scrolling through them

Favourites are unaffected by the 'Smart' switching of channels based on subscription (or errors in this case) - the only draw back is they are box specific and are lost if you change the box & have to be set manually on all boxes (e.g. main & minis)

@RichL74  BTW Personally , I would not recommend any of the resets from the Engineer's menu for this problem

Thanks for the reply - I'll give that a go now.

And if it doesn't sort itself? Is it just a case of I'll need to watch 858 instead of 401 or is it a genuine reason to call Sky out?

Go in to setting on your Sky box, select "setup" , then select "Audio visual " and check " picture resolution" is set  to "1080". If it been set to "2160 , select it and set"1080 " from the settings. This will put your box back  to HD mode when set to "2160 which is the uhd setting wiil give you the result on  401

This will change whether the box or the TV upscales , however,  I do not believe this will affect the 'Smart' Channel setting of the TV Guide which is usually just a glitch

EDIT - Apologies, I just tried this on mine and it did indeed remove the UHD channels

I know it worked as though we had the uhd add for a long time we still got HD  on 401 only when I changed the picture resolution setting  as described above did I get uhd on 401 and channel 493 for tnt sports
