Sky Q
I have been told the cable for Sky Q is standard coax. I wondered if the first cable I ran which I took to be coax will be ok for the new Sky Q installation

I am not quite sure what you mean by standard co-ax - Satellite receivers won't work with TV Aerial co-ax for example.
SKY Q needs to use two cables - SKY install twin cable.
Is there any reason you laying the cable yourself ?
If laying cable yourself we usually recommend a cable with reference WF100 although for normal length installation WF65 should be sufficient

Re: Sky Q
Thanks tor that I received information from a Sky employee that the cable was coax & a 7mm holr would be enough room to fit the cable through. This must be wrong ,I should have acceptrd the offer from the Sky engineer to leave a coil, & I could have ran that.

hmmm - I thought the standard hole used by the installers for SKy Q is 10mm - 7mm seems too small for twin cable/2 cables
I will tag our kind expert @Godfrey as I think he should be able to confirm
Edit : BTW Satellite Cable is coax but coax covers many cables with different sizes and shielding etc. :

Re: Sky Q
@JamesInglett Each CT63 / WF65 coaxial cable has a nominal outer diameter of 4.8mm, so the standard CT63 / WF65 twin 'Shotgun' cable will require a 10 mm hole.
Whereas, the lower loss CT100 / WF100 coaxial cable has a nominal outer diameter of 6.6 mm, so each of these cables would require a 7mm hole, or two of these would require a nominal 15 mm hole.
Godfrey.

Re: Sky Q
Thanks to both the 7mm hole is the one exsisting from my first cable instalation for Sky+, that I ran through my loft & trunked internally. I was hoping this route could be used again using the cable in it,but I will need to drill a larger hole instead.

Sounds like that was old school pre-Sky+ single cable.
