Sky Q

Got an old Panasonic plasma that I don't want to replace. Sky + is now restricted on some channels. The tv is wall mounted but has three points on the front- white/yellow/red. What connectors or adapters are needed to allow the tv to connect to sky q?

Hi @man2

Somthing  like the following

https://www.amazon.co.uk/DigitPro-HDMI-RCA-Converter-Composite-Black/dp/B0D3F2ZNMD/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?

hi @man2

What is the actual model number -Some Plasma TVs do have HDMI inputs (the last one I had did)

If it doesn't have an HDMIinput then you would need an HDMI to analogue converter (Assuming this is for use with a main box)

Component video will likely generate a better picture than composite (if that bothers you).

(Notwithstanding any HDMI input)

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Bear in mind the picture via composite (the yellow connector) is abysmal compared to even component (reg/green/blue) or HDMI.

I mean we are talking about 32x the amount of picture detail on UHD vs what composite can display PLUS the extra colour and brightness range of HDR .

As nice as those old Panny plasmas were...

Re: Sky Q

Hi. Ordered part as advised. Install booked for Monday. Just seen it does not come with a 5a psu. Do I need one and if so any part number would be greatly appreciated

Hi @man2   If the power requirements are no more than 500mA then I believe that you can use the USB port on the Sky Q box. So you probably don't need a separate power supply.

Edit: I see the latest boxes have a 1A USB port so up to 5W power available.

You said it needs 5A above? That's a lot of power.

Re: Sky Q

I don't know. The adapter says it doesn't come with a 5a psu and was checking if it was needed as the installation is Monday

Hi @man2   5V (standard for USB), not 5A. So Sky Q box will provide that. "is necessary to connect a 5V 1A power supply."
