Sky Q volume + mute not working

Sky Q fitted last Wednesday and all working OK.  Now the volume & mute buttons are not working. In addition, I am unable to enter my PIN when prompted.  I cannot select the numbers at all despite the icon flashing.  Everything else on the remote is working.

Whether connected or not, the volume control on the TV remote also ceased working at the same time as the Sky Q remote.   Thanks in anticipation,

Note, your TV remote control has no connection with Sky or its setup.
