I've received a letter saying I should upgrade to Sky Q. It mentions one of the benefits is that I can store up to 370 hours of recordings in HD, similar to my HD box. Does that mean it will have 2TB of storage? I ask as it seems that would not be the usual box to get but a 1TB version wouldn't store that much

The default main Q box since late 2019 has been the 1TB UHD/HDR model.
Most 2TB units are from between early 2016 and then, and would be refurbished if re-issued now.
v1 2TB boxes cannot output HDR.

But why would the letter i received say 370 hours of HD recordings if that was the case

As always be aware of Marketing who always tend to represent best case scenarios and don't always list the fine technical detail
Storage wise Q is no better than SKY HD & even worse if you have multiscreen as only the SKY Q main box stores recordings
You may, also, wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

I suspect someone is somewhat incautiously plucking figures from earlier Sky history.

If it says up to 370 hours then it's meaningless.
