My Sky Q stopped working yesterday. I cannot view recording, record anything and the Home Screen is plain blue. I’ve tried to update the software 15 times now and although it goes through the motions nothing actually updates or fixes the problem.

Updating the firmware will do nothing, have you tried a power cycle of the box, is the box connected to the internet?

sounds like the box has maybe failed and needs replacing

It's definitely connected. I have the tiles on the screen but nothing in them to select. I've tried the sky app and that's not working, I've tried calling them and the phone line is down. It's ridiculous!

Might be related to the Sky support line outage this morning.

Yes. After repeating everything I'd already tried with a technician on the phone, they're now coming out on Thursday to replace the box!
