Sky Q remote issue unpairing

we have a sky q remote which has stopped working  - dead as a dodo - no LED light - nothing 

I've purchased a new remote which I need to pair to the sky box however I am unable to unpair the old remote due to it being completely dead 😞 

any help....... please 😊

@Victoria3 when you pair the new remote it will automatically unpair the old remote

What happens when you hold down 7&9 on the new remote?

I've just turned everything completely off and back in and now having new working remote 🤦‍♀️
