Quite possibly.  Q is likely to be the last satellite television system developed for the UK: realistically satellite broadcasting has a finite future as the orbiting platforms reach the end of their operational lifespan.  Glass/Stream are products from Comcast (the owners of Sky since 2018) and Comcast has always been a cable company: it's entirely within their power to aim to transition their Sky Group division onto the platform of their choice, and pricing is one method of doing so.

It would be perverse to charge 'streaming' customers the overheads of running satellites...  But commercial decisions can be strange!

The two services can't really be directly compared as they are quite different.

Q has more channels and doesn't charge extra for fast forwarding through ad breaks (Glass/Stream does)

Q has the ability to record and play back a broadcast programme at any suitable time for the customer. (Glass/Stream relies on third party apps and streaming services making the programme available to stream. This may take minutes/hours/days/never)

Also, if you compare the cost of the basic packages in UHD with ad skipping & Netflix on Q and Stream right now as a new customer, it's actually cheaper to get Q.

On Stream you'd pay:

£26pm for Entertainment (18 month contract)

£6pm for UHD/Atmos

£5pm for Ad Skipping

£8pm for Netflix Premium (4 screens in UHD)

TOTAL: £45pm

On Q you'd pay:

£31pm for Signature & Netflix (18 month contract)

£12pm for HD & UHD  (which gives you Netflix Premium)

There's no charge for fast forwarding ads & Atmos audio is included where available.

TOTAL: £43pm

IMHO Sky Q is still the superior, cheaper, and more versatile option.
