Sky Q ongoing terrible issues

My 3 x Sky Q mini boxes (I know I can only watch 2 at a time) have been performing terribly for the past few weeks, well before the 15th of May outage.

Issues include regularly getting continual (every minute or two) freezing/loss of connectivity while watching live TV.

And now getting regular "there is a problem joining your network" error, meaning I have to reset them and set them up again.

I regularly reset the main Sky Q box and software is up to date on all boxes.

Needless to say the service status says everything is working perfectly.

Didn't realise how common these issues are until browsing on here just now.

@Sky - we pay you a lot of money for these services. You need to sort it out !!

Hi @Loyaldisgruntle Try rebooting your router by removing the power cable for 30 sec then reconnect to reboot, then reboot your main SKYQ box by turning the power off at the socket for 30 sec then turn back on, do the same with any Mini boxes?

Re: Sky Q ongoing terrible issues

Thanks Quoman, I should have mentioned that I regularly reboot the router, along with the Sky Q main box and the mini boxes.......

Widespread Sky Q issues reported on here - is this mormal, or something bigger going on ??

I posted yesterday on here for the first time about my ongoing (probably for the last month to 6 weeks now) of Sky Q / mini boxes / connectivity issues.

Just looking through posts for the past 24 hours or so and appears quite a lot of us with similar issues.

Being a newbie on here (but have had Sky Q + 3 mini boxes for several years with generally very good experiences) I'm just wondering if any Superusers could say if there are higher than normal issues being reported  on here please ??

My issues started before 15th May. But because of this outage I'm thinking something bigger is going on.

I'm going to contact technical support today because continually rebooting broadband router + Sky Q main box + mini boxes is now very tiresome !!

hi @Loyaldisgruntle

Who is your ISP - is it SKY  ?

If so do you have a SKY Max Hub ?

BTW I have not particualrly noticed a higher than usual number of posts - it does vary over time, although usually new users or those changing ISPs (that said I am not a network expert so don't follow them as closely as other issues/queries)

Hi Nigea99,

My ISP is Vodafone, been with them 18 months and it's been fine. Will undoubtedly switch back to Sky when contract expires!

hi @Loyaldisgruntle

Thanks for that .

Not sure why i shsould suddenlly become more unstable.

The one you thing need o be aware is that, as your home wifi is not SKY, then the minis do not use your home wifi but uses wifi generated by the main box and between the minis.

Is there anything that might have changed that could interfere with this?

I know when I first had my mini installed switching off the wifi on the AV amp, that it was on top of, & which was connecting to my home (BT)  wifi helped remove my initial problems (that have never returned after 7+ years)

I know it is unlikely but we do know that DECT home phones can cause interference
