Sky Q not connecting through Gigaclear

Ah. Those are not routers but I see what you mean now but also, those are also not used by the mini. It wants a dirext connection to the Q's own wifi transmitter (or a Sky Q booster)

You might be able to connect it to one of them by ethernet - people have had mixed results with that approach.

Hey. We are experiencing the same problem. Sky' Q won't stay connect d to WiFi even if connected via Ethernet or WiFi.

gigaclear updated the modem and gave us 2 business nodes as we were having problems but since the new equipment it's dire. We watch on demand for 5 mins then it just drops connection and we watch the circle..... re connect and it happens again.

Driving us mad!

Hi @Dawnsusan   I have been using Gigaclear with a Sky Q Main box and two Mini boxes for approaching 18 months. Connected by Ethernet, it has been rock solid with the supplied Linksys routers and more recently with my own Deco XE75 routers.

If you connect over ethernet make sure you disable wifi on the Q.

Thank you for replying, we have mini box so need the Wi-Fi I believe? It disconnects whether connected via Ethernet or WiFi. States that sky Q has lost connection.   Weird thing is if we search for available networks the sky Q wants to connect to a SKY broadband as first option. We don't have sky broadband, neither do our neighbours. If connected via Ethernet it swaps to the SKY broadband stays connected for a bit then drops. If we connect via WIFi to our ISP it does the same, stays connected for a bit then drops...

Hi did you find swapping to your own routers gave you a more stable connection?

The only solution I found for a reliable connection was using a powerline adapter (not ideal in itself) to route straight to/from the main node.

Plugging the mini into one of the other nodes received mixed results, most probably to do with the distance to any other node in the mesh, therefore network stability and performance was not reliable.

I'm sure Sky would cite a security / legal reason for the boxes having to connect directly, however as a customer, it's a lousy experience.  For anyone not tech savvy, it's an horrible situation for anyone to be put in.
