Sky Q installation
So thought I'd take the plunge and move from Sky HD to Sky Q , sadly the engineer insisted on drilling a large hole to secure his ladder to get on a single storey flat roof to check the lnb (I was under impression it was dual mode as it was changed when the dish was moved a couple of years ago).
had to tell him to cancel, has health and safety nonsense really come to this ?

Sky's H&S policy is quite strict, more so than an independent satellite company. I'm surprised he considered climbing onto a flat roof at all and yes they are obliged to tether their ladders to a wall. He would most likely be sacked if found not to have done this.

Re: Sky Q installation
It's a shame they don't bother telling you that in advance, I could of made other arrangements.

Re: Sky Q installation
Ok so I've had a 3rd party fit a hybrid lnb so the sky engineer doesn't need access to the roof.
rang sky to book sky q again , my new appointment is now 24th September!! Apparently they have a rush to changeover following their recent campaign to get people to switch.
since I have everything set up ready I asked if they could just send me the box but alas no. There must be other people in the same situation and it would help ease the backlog.

Hi @deakmann70
You may still have an issue with the Sky Q install.
Invariably they will not supply if they cannot readily access the dish from a ground based ladder. They need access in case of future Q issues

Re: Sky Q installation
I wouldn't call sky in anyway apart from if the box was faulty , they can't go in the loft either so can't replace the cables. In the modern world the sky rollout of the 90's would be all but impossible.
