Sky Q contract problems with contract end date

My sky broadband is due to end in a months time and my tv package should be too as I took out the new contracts for them both in August 2024, however in February last year I had notifications saying various products had been added to my sky package without my consent/knowledge and someone had clearly got into my account and done this deliberately (clearly my ex partner) so I had to get my security changed on my account and got sky to remove these unwanted add ons. However they then started me on a new tv contract from that date which now won't end until February next year they have informed me,. All my tv discounts are ending now and I don't see why I should have to be tied  into this contract until next year, through no fault of my own, when sky were the ones who let someone else add products without my authority, and my contract should be ending now like my broadband. It's completely messing up me wanting to take out a new tv and broadband package as a whole.  What can I do about this?

If your discounts are expiring then so should your minimum term?

@BeckyB30  Your Sky Q contract never ends until you serve Sky with 31 days notice that you wish to end it, only fixed term discount periods end

Re: Sky Q contract problems with contract end date

But surely my discounts should have ended when my contract ends as originally it would have been August as that's when the discounts end too and when I first took out the new contract

From reading your message above, if your ex-partner took out that new 2yr contract in February 2025 (which overrode your original contract running from Aug 2024-2026 I guess), when you discovered this and the person you spoke to unravelled it all (or so you thought) there would have probably been notes made on the account at the time. I think you will have to phone Sky up and talk to them about it and see if they can access the notes from the time.

If I'm reading that correctly you're saying your ex still had access to your account through your log in details and added various add ons (such as Sky Sports?), you had them removed in February of last year and agreed to a new 24 month contract? That would tie you in for the 2 years however they've  not extended your existing discounts for that period? If they didn't state this (and I wouldn't have expected you to agree to it if they had) then they've made a mistake.

I had similar myself recently when they offered me (on an unrelated call) to marry up the end dates on my TV & BB services but then failed to move the discount end dates as well, so I know it's possible. I had mine sorted via a chat on here so I'll escalate this for you and they'll hopefully be able to help you out. Watch out for the colourful chat bubble at the bottom left, but be aware, it only lasts 48 hours if you don't use it and it is not an instant reply service, so don't panic if you have to wait for an answer to anything.

By the way, if your ex did have access through your Sky account details then that's not Skys fault really.

Sky broadband contract & Sky Q contracts are completely separate.

Yes, but the billing can be combined (as is mine) or appear as separate items on your bank statement. Presumably the billing dates dictate which is which, although that said, when I came back to Sky BB the billing dates and initial charges were perhaps automatically adjusted so it was one bill showing for me.
