Sky Q communal Disk HELP!!!

ABD52920-813D-4BF0-8CC9-1E026C4A1B8E.png

Hi I am due to move into a new apartment. I've confirmed it's Sky Q ready and it has this socket on the wall in the lounge. (See picture) there are no cables however to plug into my box from the wall socket. Spoke to a lady from sky today who was lovely. She said an engineer would need to be booked to drop a set off to me.

Surely I can save his time and purchase a set? seems daft to waste a booking as sky have said I just need cables. Unsure what ones I need to buy though if I can?

Can anyone help? Or advise?

@Happyhunter

It is normal practice for communal installations to involve a Sky Multiple Development Unit (MDU) trained engineer who will use their test meter to analyse the transponder signal level and Modulation Error Ratio (MER) of all the 67 required satellite transponder signals that Sky requires whilst in Legacy Universal LNB mode.

They will then re-scan all of the 67 required satellite transponder signals with their test meter set to measure whilst in Single Cable Router mode.

Communal Integrated Reception System (IRS) installations will use this Single Cable Router (SCR) mode of connection between the communal IRS wallplate and your new Sky Q receiver.

So, in order to re-configure your new Sky Q receiver to stop using the default 'Wideband' LNB type and start using 'SCR' LNB type, requires this procedure to be adopted;

Press Home

Scroll down to highlight 'Settings' but don't press select

On remote press 0 0 1 then select

For LNB change it from 'Wideband' to 'SCR'

Switch Sky box off at mains plug then switch back on

The required coaxial cable will be supplied by your Sky MDU trained engineer, but if you want to purchase it yourself just search for a ready made 'f' type coaxial cable of a suitable length.

Godfrey.

Re: Sky Q communal Disk HELP!!!

Thanks for the reply. So essentially I can just buy the cable, plug in and follow the setup below as per your instructions snd I should be good to go?

Of course if I need to still book an engineer to check the system I'm happy to but it would be good to at least be able to watch sky prior to a visit 😀
