Sky Q box wouldn't switch on

This morning my Sky Q box wouldn't switch on so I then remembered the batteries on the remote were getting low so I changed the batteries but it still didn't work so I thought it was the box that had failed. However I have an app on my mobile phone which is a remote control so thought I'd try that and bingo the box came right on. I then realised the Sky remote needed to be paired with the box so looked up how to do that and all it involves is pressing 1 and 3 on the remote at the same time which solved the final step of the problem!

Lucky it is possible to use an app on a mobile phone to control the box which works in rooms where the remote doesn't work but why do Sky limit you to ONE remote per box whereas with Sky+ HD you could have multiple remotes? Having said that Sky+ HD remotes don't work through walls only with magic eyes in place so these new remotes are not so bad after all just don't work in every room here.

It is bluetooth, not Sky, that limits it to one. Only 1 remote can be paired at a time. In return for that limitation, it's no longer necessary to aim and point the remote at the box, or even have it in the same room, in order to work.
