I think I might be in amongst this somewhere too.
Recently recontracted both TV and BB on Sky Q.
Only device changed was from old sky router to Sky Max Hub.
I now get regular disconnects on main sky Q box, connected on wifi, and this wasnt previously the case.
Can anyone say for sure they have the same issue? Perhaps an explanation and solution?
Conveniently the Q box doesnt show in connected devices list, yet a mini box does...

Tunring off the 5GHz connection and assiging the skybox an ip address from my router has worked for me,

So, had a Sky Engineer visit today, has replaced the main sky q box, and added a booster. The booster is something to do with a high surge to our mini box, but it is positioned right next to the router.
The error is also still not resolved, and as a result I have rebooked for when I can host the visit myself.

Turning off the 5gHz connection would not be convenient for me as my daily wireless back-ups from 4 different Mac computers to my NAS bank all take place over the 5gHz band.

I am going to give up with wifi on the Sky Q box and install a spare Deco Mesh hub I have, next to my TV and audio system and connect my Philips TV, Sky Box and Krell Vanguard integrated amplifier all via Ethernet cables. I had intended to put the spare Deco mesh hub in the room where our 3 printers (Office/Scanner ET2750, XP15000 A3+ Photo and Dymo label) are located but as I realised one of the printers (the Dymo label printer) is USB connection only not Ethernet/Wireless like the other two the Deco hub which stupidly has no USB socket would not work, so I have ordered a WAVLINK box which receives Wifi and has one USB printer output and one Ethernet printer output.

Another Engineer visit today, seems more successful...
Sky Q box connected to Wifi Router but dont WPS, use the password option. Apparently the WPS use on Sky Q boxes to WIFI Max is unreliable due to the lack of mesh on the router, which Q uses. Doesnt seem like such an upgrade now does it!
The extra Booster we were left with last time has now been moved to mid way between our mini q box and the Router/TV.
If this doesnt hold up, i'll seek to revert to previous set up.

Sorted issue out with our connection problems. Been fine for weeks with connection to router and mini boxes. Had connected ethernet cable months ago between router and box. This must have been causing issues with WiFi/ethernet trying to connect. Disconnected ethernet connection, back on WiFi, no further problems!!!!

Sorry, i dont follow, are you suggesting the fix i have been given is proven on your setup too?

I have given up with wifi and the Sky Q box. I have now added an additional TP Link Deco Mesh node beside my audio and video equipment and connected the Q box with an ethernet cable. So far seems stable, as I would sincerely hope. Not a cheap solution!

My Sky Q box regularly disconnects itself. Rebooted everything and it still does it. I wouldn't mind so much if the Sky Q box re-connected itself when it loses connection, but it doesn’t. I have to set it all up again like it's a new router. Every time. It's infuriating when you get the "no connection" message, but shows my router with full bars as one I can connect to. My router is in the same room as the Sky Q box and EVERYTHING else works perfectly fine.

Same issue as everyone else with constant disconnects from my ORBI mesh. Luckily i had a TP-Link AX1500 that i had used in the past and followed the advice of GAZ1 and set up SKYQ to connect to this range extender rather than the ORBI. (also connected to 2.4GHZ only). Touch wood this seems to have worked so far with no disconnects over the last 2 days.
Everything else in the house still connects direct to ORBI and only my SKYQ box and SKYQmini to the extender.
No idea why this works but if it continues, hallelujah.

Hello I'm having same issue. Sky support told me Sky Q box works on both frequencies. And if one is unavailable it automatically switches to the other.

A more accurate answer from Sky would be that it works equally badly on both frequencies.
