Sky Q box loses wi fi connection with Netgear Orbi router, nothing else has changed including distan

My Sky Q box keeps losing wi fi connection to my Netgear Orbi router? Nothing has changed in the system.. I have fibre to my house and router/SkyQ box has not changed... its all worked fine for 3 years? And the chat system here is also very frustrating!!!

The fact you had it working well for that long is pretty amazing. You could try changing the 5GHz SSID on the orbi, that has worked with some non-sky kit for some people (the Q can only use 2.4)

or some form of hard wiring. Full ethernet is usually inconvenient / hassle but powerlines or cabling into a mesh node can work well.

I will check the Orbi and change as per your suggestion... but I haven't changed and settings for a long time so wondering what tge causation would be, I am suspecting that the sky's box has developed a fault but will do as you suggest ... thanks

Sky's wifi is random with 3rd party routers. The mesh is dynamic and makes up its own mind continuously about which device, main, mini or booster should own the connection to the internet and it makes bad decisions.

Wifi networks also switch frequency if they see congestion.

You don't need to explicitly change something in order for things to change.

p.s. It's just "cause" 😉

"causation" is a term used to describe the phenomenon of something affecting something else directly.
