Sky Q and Sky Essentials

I have a Sky Q box but do not subscribe to any channels; it's effectively a top quality freesat recorder.  Is it possible to add Sky Essentials at a reasonable price.?  Would this also act as a gateway to Sports or Cinema in the future?

So If I wanted Sky Sports or Cinema at some point I guess I would need to have Ultimate first.

You'd need Sky Signature to add Sport or Cinema on Sky Q. Ultimate is basically the addition of Netflix.

Did the box come from Sky?

Essentials on Q is only free-to-air channels.  You cannot add any premium channels - you need Signature for that.

Re: Sky Q and Sky Essentials

Yes my Sky Q box is from them.  I pay a ridiculously small monthly subscription.

I already get all the free to air channels (including more on HD than normal freesat).

...then you already have Essentials.

(I suspect the Essential TV you're referring to is the one only available to streaming boxes)

It sounds like you are already on the Sky Q Essentials package. What does it say on your Sky account? Many people only pay £5pm for this after negotiating with Sky.

Don't confuse it with the Sky Essential TV package which is only available on Sky Stream and Glass. It has different channels to those from the satellite service, including Sky Atlantic.

You can add sky sports to sky q essentials, you can also add multi room, that's the package I currently have.

Hi @Coco+C   Apparently you can, you just need to find the right advisor.
