Sky Q and 2 mini boxes. One WiFi, one ethernet

Hi can anyone help me please.

I currently have Sky Q connected to my Virgin router via WiFi and one sky mini box in my bedroom, also over WiFi.

I want to get an additional mini box in my summer house. However it's to far from the main sky Q box to run wirelessly. My plan is to connect the new sky mini box to the main box via a long ethernet cable round the side of my house.

My question is, will I be able to run this new sky mini box via ethernet in my summer house, whilst continuing to run the one in my bedroom over WiFi? Or do they both have to be on WiFi or ethernet?

The last I spoke to at sky didn't know the answer.

Thank you.

Hi @lpardoe

If you run Ethernet from the main Q box to the summer house mini then you should be OK.     Best to turn off the this Mini WiFi

To connect the Ethernet mini carry out a Network reset with the Ethernet connected
Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset onthe right hand side.
Do not do any WPS and just wait for it to connect.

'Immediately it does connect go into the mini hidden menu and turn off all WiFi.
To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Go to Network to turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.

Hi thanks for reply. That's good news. I presumed both mini boxes would need to be either wired or wireless.

Re: Sky Q and 2 mini boxes. One WiFi, one ethernet

So you don't have to change any settings on the Sky Q main box?
