Sky Q Multiscreen Box Admin Fee

Hello, I wish a couple of extra Sky Q Multiscreen boxes (already a multiscreen customer), but Sky are asking an outrageous one off £50 admin fee for the self installation of each box (the same cost for having an engineer install them)!!

As self install is the same cost per box as engineer install (and Sky will still own the boxes) it seems they want a £100 to simply cover the postage of two multiboxes. Surley self install admin cost should be dropped to a reasonable level? In the meantime I will do without.

hi @Gaz544

I am sure many customers share your thoughts or similar regarding the cost of the dmin fees for extra Miniboxes but, SKY are unlikely to lower them - although sometimes deals can be done but usually only when taking out other subscriptions etc.

I know it is of no comfort but in the first year or so it was £100 (or possibly £99)

I am pleased to see you are fully aware that it is an Admin fee & that the boxes are still SKY's property & must be returned when the sub is cancelled.

As you have found probably the only thing is to decide whether you want to pay it or not. Many do, even begrudgingly, although others, like you, may feel the cost is not worth it

Re: Sky Q Multiscreen Box Admin Fee

@nigea99 Many thanks for your comment. I am not against fair profit but in this case the admin fee is wholly unreasonable. Should I proceed I will make two separate orders requesting engineer installation on both occasions - should reasonably cover my admin fee?

I'd observe they are presumably also seeking to cover the cost of manufacturing the hardware in the first place.

Re: Sky Q Multiscreen Box Admin Fee

@TimmyBGood I would suggest the cost of design and hardware is covered by the monthly subscription as it would be for the Sky Q box itself? It also does not compute when it is the identical intial admin fee to undertake self installation as it is to have an Sky engineer take time to install it.

It's a Sky product: they can choose to apply whatever pricing structure makes the Comcast accountants happy.

@TimmyBGood With your last missive in mind,  I guess you are inferring I / we do not question or dispute costings?

I guess any of us can try, on the understanding that multi billion dollar corporations can generally afford to ignore us.
