Wifi is unpredictable and affected by things out of your control (like neighbours using the same channel for example)

Re: Sky Q Mini Box

Issue still happening, has improved significantly but still not working perfectly. Spoke to 3, they say its a Sky issue as no other devices in house affected and signal is perfect.

Of course no one to speak to with Sky at the weekends to get sorted.

Yeah it's nothing to do with 3. But you have to realise the "wifi signal" is irrelevant. The mini is talking direct to the Q. It's not using the 3 router's wifi. And it's using 5GHz wifi which is easily attenuated by walls etc. You could try moving the 5GHz channel on the 3 router away from ch36 which is what the Q uses for its mini comms.

Re: Sky Q Mini Box

My router says that both main box and mini box are connected via 2.4ghz? Other devices are connected 5ghz then?

Could you explain what you mean by the CH36?

Re: Sky Q Mini Box

My router is located near my mini box so I have connected an ethernet cable between the two. Not even sure that'll make any difference but trying anything at this stage.

They don't communicate via the router unless you're on Sky broadband and even then not if you have their latest routers.

Not sure if the ethernet cable will help. You'd have to reset the network on the mini to get it to use it and even then I think if the Q isn't on ethernet I suspect the mini won't "see it" via that cable.

Channel 36 is the frequency starting band the internal 5GHz wifi on the Q uses and you can't change it although you can reduce its bandwidth from 80 to 40 MHz via the installer menu on the Q, to reduce the number of channels it overlaps with (as per this diagram)

If your router is also using channel36 or up to 48) it could be interfering.
