YouTube won’t work on my sky q box

It started off with missing the options on the left side of the screen.

 

Following research, I:

 

Used the hidden code on "settings" and 'refreshed apps' - no change

Rrepeated 'refresh apps' and turned off sky Q, unplugged box for 5 mins.  Rebooted.  No change.

 

i then noticed that I had been logged out of YouTube so I've tried logging back in using my google id.  
attempt 1 using code on screen and safari and on my iPad - won't work.

attempt 2 ditto (because I couldn't believe it hadn't worked) - no good

attempt 3 logged in manually on tv screen using gmail account and password, then it wanted me to sign in using my web browser to confirm it was me, I did this and I logged in fine on my iPad but the tv made no difference!  Got a screen saying "sign in failed try again".

 

(the YouTube app is working perfectly on my mini Q box upstairs) .

 

if anyone has any ideas I'll be grateful.

Hi @birdysteve666 

 

You will need to provide more information in order for the community to assist. What is the exact issue you are having? At what step are you getting stuck? Is the an error? What have you tried so far to resolve? 

 

As a starting point have you rebooted the TV? (Settings > System Management> Resets & updates > restart device).

Ok.Update on all actions taken over the last 48 hours or so...re Sky Q and YouTube 

 

Software updated and  apps refreshed on both Mini box and main box ..twice 

 

Main and mini boxes powered up and down 3 times at least 

 

Recorded programmes wiped on both boxes

 

Wi fi speeds checked on both boxes and are fine.

 

Still can't get YouTube to search or retrieve videos and can't access Settings  to reset the app....and a phone call to a v nice lady at Sky hasn't improved things..

 

Running out of options now I reckon

Still nothing here.

 

Unlike others, I can access YT on the mini-box but not from the main box. Everything I have tried has failed and I'm reluctant to try and upgrade the mini-box in case I lose YT there too.

 

All very strange and all very annoying!

@birdysteve666 A few people have mentioned they are having problems. Nothing seems to resolve it like restart the TV, refresh apps via settings etc unfortunately.

 

Those affected are working around it by signing in on their phone/tablet to You Tube and then screen casting to Glass.

 

Sky are aware and are investigating according to the marked answer in this thread:

All working again now, seem to need to a reset by Sky.

Yep certainly working as before on my main Q box. Haven't tried the 2 minis yet but will report back tomorrow of there's an issue

Yep, all working again now on all 3 boxes. Didn't need to log back in on minis either. Never used this forum before. Most comments were useful and good to know it wasn't an isolated problem. Thanks all.

YT came back on the q box last nbight, rebooted the mini this morning and now able to sign back in. Thank you Sky a happy user this morning.

Glad to hear the app is returning to normal, although there is still no evidence it was a Sky, rather than YouTube issue as far as I can see?

 

For some it didn't work on 1 box, many boxes, main Q boxes or mini boxes or a combination. For others, they didn't have the problem at all. 

Weird.

Well I am very pleased to report that the "apps refresh" has worked but it took a good 12 + hours
