Hi,
Hope someone could assist with an issue I have with Skq Q HDR as I've banged my head enough to get it to work.
Note: I've got the Sky a hdr box and have gone through the full setup instructions on getting it to 10bit mode etc including making the required changes to my HDR enabled tv i.e using the correct hdmi inputs etc including using quality hdmi cables etc ... so in short I've done everything that I possibly need to as far as set up goes.
when I try to play hdr content on Netflix through my Sky Q app, it does not show the hdr codec in the information banner. But when I play Netflix directly through my tv's app it shows the hdr banner - this leads me to think the sky Q box is not delivering HDR content as it should.
I've scratched my head too long and have also spoken to Sky support who've simply said if I have enabled the 10bit mode I should already be set up for hdr. Clearly not given the issue I highlight above.
am I going nuts or is there a solution to this as I am not convinced I'm received hdr via the Sky a box.
thanks

Thanks guys - ok the issue appears to be my JBL 9.1 soundbar which sits between my tv and the sky Q box. After bypassing the JBL bar, Sky Q hdr works! 🤦♂️ only if I had known earlier!! - Now I need to figure out how to sort out the signal pass through for the JBL box - but greatly appreciate your input.

hmmm not sure
I know you have said you have an HDR capable box but can I just confirm which box you have :
Home - Settings - System Info - Hardware Version
If it is 32B0xxx then you have a (V1) UHD but non HDR 2TB Box
If it is 32B1xxx then you have a (V2) UHD HDR 2TB Box (which has a separate Power supply)
If it is 32B2xxx then you have a (V3) UHD HDR 1TB or 2TB Box
Are you able to check any other App or via SKY UHD content (if you have the sub)
Maybe check in the Netflix app navigate to Get Help & try the Check your Network to make sure the Netflix App is getting a good enough connection speed for it

Thanks for your response.
So the Sky Q box is 32B107 so no issues there in terms of there in terms of hdr compatibility. Just had it upgraded last week.
broadband speeds on Netflix circa 200-300Mbps so I think that's plenty bandwidth
so the problem remains ie any content played from the Sky Q box does not display the hdr banner but using standalone tv apps ie Netflix including Netflix on my firestick has hdr enabled.
scratching of the head continues......

Yes Box OK - I have one of those
clutching a bit at straws here - have you tried the SKY Q box in the same HDMI port as the Firestick
Please may I ask what Make & model of TV ?
I am sure you have tried but have also tried displaying your TV's info whilst watching rather than just relying on the initial message
When you say, any content can you confirm you also have the UHD add on and what specifically have your tried from SKY rather than via an app

The Q box only handles HDR in HLG

@Laing1 I think the apps use HDR 10 my Panasonic info banner shows Netflix (ediit & Disney+) as HDR(PQ) rather the HDR(HLG) from SKY content

@zed65 I am afraid I don;t know much about the JBL sound bar but I know with my older Yamaha Amp I had to go into it's advanced settings to enable the 10bit pass through - so it may be worth looking to see if there might be such an option.
Failing that hopefully your TV will work to pass the sound via ARC (assuming the TV & JBL have ARC)

Cheers - I should be able to figure this out from here - that is the easy bit, as I now know what the root cause of the issue is.

After a few hours of playing around with the setup and having done some research, the JBL 9.1 soundbar does not support the sky Q's format of HDR (XLG) - so anyone with a similar setup will need to connect their sky box to their TV directly and use the Arc on the JBL bar for the audio. So essentially bypassing the soundbar altogether. This may save anyone else wasting their time like I did.. JBL apparently is not looking to add XLG support in the future, so it is what it is!
Thanks all once again
